Spiritual Front signs with Auerbach Tonträger / Prophecy Productions
Prophecy Productions is proud to announce the signing of respected Rome 'suicide pop' trio Spiritual Front. Formed in 1999 as the solo project of Simone H. Salvatori, the band has released numerous full-length albums, singles, EPs and collaborations, the most recent being 2013's early works re-recordings compilation "Open Wounds" and "Black Hearts in Black Suits" collaboration with Italian composer Stefano Puri. Spiritual Front dubs its sound 'catchy ballads for heartbreaker nihilist youth'; its Morricone-inspired neofolk channels art rock, tango, new wave and country influences through a modern lens, calling for comparison to Nick Cave, Swans and Scott Walker. Decadent pop with a vintage sound.
Spiritual Front has earned a global following through the strength of its gripping live shows and the star power of Salvatori, a frontman whose dark storytelling is delivered with both heavy earnestness and disarming sincerity. The lyrical themes shared by Salvatori deal with issues such as searching for self-identity, sexuality, harsh realities and angry break-ups, each tinted with sarcasm, nihilism and biting humor.
Spiritual Front's breakout release – 2006's "Armageddon Gigolo" – was recorded with musicians from Ennio Morricone's orchestra (the album contains the immortal SF hits "Slave", "Bastard Angel", "Jesus Died In Las Vegas" and "I Walk the (Dead)Line") and will soon be reissued by Auerbach/Prophecy on CD and for the first time ever on LP. In its time as a band, Spiritual Front has collaborated with artists such as Lydia Lunch, Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio and many others, contributed to the soundtracks of the TV series "Las Vegas" and the motion picture "Saw 2" as well as independent films, theatre productions and modern ballets.
Currently, Spiritual Front is prepping its next album "Amour Braque". Conceptually described as 'a sincere and cruel analysis of what love/sex relations are, a path that switches between tenderness and rot', the record updates the band's dark folk, chamber pop with standout 60's vibes.
