The world of FARSOT is a bleak and harsh place. This pitch black realm is ruled by warring kings that are named Death, Fear, Grief, and Hatred. The Germans' signature musical handwriting has always been reflecting these dark avatars and their fourth album "Life Promised Death" is no exception. "Life Promised Death" is the true heir of all that FARSOT have done so far. What makes this album different is a higher density of sound and harsh riffing as well as surprisingly captivating songs that even border on being catchy. According to the band, this is due to Grunge having been a major source of inspiration for "Life Promised Death". What seems unlikely at a first superficial listening becomes audible at a more intense engagement with the album.
Lyrically, FARSOT are spinning a suitably dark yarn that runs as a thematic thread throughout "Life Promised Death". The album revolves around life slipping out of hand. FARSOT emerged from the East German city of Gotha in Thuringia in 1999. This also turns 2024 into the band's 25th anniversary year. Considering the long successful history of this avantgarde black metal act, it is quite remarkable that of the five current members, three are still from the original founders of FARSOT and four of them have been playing together for more than 20 years. Following their own artistic pace, FARSOT have taken all the time needed to create their fourth masterpiece. The beautifully bittersweet fruit of all the hard work and creative blood, sweat, and tears was worth the effort: "Life Promised Death" is the perfect soundtrack for these dark and disturbing times of trouble.

Four years after their much-lauded debut album "IIII," Farsot - one of the greatest hopes of German Black Metal - release their sophomore "Insects". On this album, the band from Thuringia once more breaks the bounds of Dark/Black Metal and presents a unique new definition of dark music, emphasising trance-like instrumentals as much as clear, conjuring vocals and many groovy passages.

The album is available as:
- Jewelcase CD
- limited Mailpak CD (the special Digipak also known from the previous Farsot releases)
- Limited Farsot clothbag incl. Mailpak CD and some A5 copperplate replicas on special paper in an envelope, handsigned and handnumbered by Farsot; limited to 200 copies and available for Prophecy club members and in Prophecy's online shop only
- Limited LP incl. poster. Limited to 500 copies.
With a single demo entitled "042103Freitod", Farsot fathomed the boundaries of raw and cold Black Metal in 2004, and with their debut album "IIII", released in autumn 2007 via Lupus Lounge, they will enrich the genre with their very own crushing visions of the dark depths of the human psyche. In tracks changing between unpredictability and catchiness, this young band from Germany eschews crude sensationalism in order to penetrate subtly and insistently those dreaded corners of the soul that lurk within us all.

FAIL·LURE: a blend between "failure" and "allure". Based on Peter Greenaway's "Drowning by Numbers" as well as several Art Nouveau works (e.g. Khnopff's "Ishtar", Klimt's "Mermaids" and "Water Serpents", Kotarbinskis "Kiss of Medusa" or Schwabes "La Vague") Farsot, one of Germany's conceptionally most ambitious black metal bands, have conceived their third album. "FAIL·LURE" addresses the inevitable dilemma between fascination and mania, desire and disgust, power and weakness – the seeming rift between the sexes. It is an allegory of life as a not endless game that cannot be won.
The cover, showing a sculpture by French artist Denis Lavoyer, reflects these topics. Female beauty idealized with branches for arms like threatening claws serves to perfectly visualize the main idea behind "FAIL·LURE".

The involved concept is countered musically by Farsot's more spontaneous, intuitive approach, consciously refraining from "heady" leanings and patterns. "FAIL·LURE" merges original Black Metal with mature yet always characteristic Farsot songwriting and hits home thanks to its to-the-point dynamism. Thus the album, which was produced by V. Santura (Triptykon, Secrets Of The Moon, Schammasch, Dark Fortress …), is closer along the lines of the band's much-heralded debut "||||" (2007) than its immediate predecessor "Insects" (2011).

"FAIL·LURE" comes out on CD in Arigato-Pac (with die-cutcover), as gatefold 2LP, 2CD book (18x18cm, 60 pages, incl. liner notes to all songs and additional photography) as well as Complete Box (with gatefold 2LP, 2CD book, music video and art prints). Gatefold 2LP and 2CD book also contain the audio bonus 'Watertower Conspiracy', an ambient piece of about 20 minutes by G.B./ColdWorld, adapting motifs from all album tracks.
With their self-released debut album "042103freitod" (2004), Farsot achieved some success right from the start - soon, they were considered one of the most promising newcomers in Germany's black metal scene. With their interplay between raw, mid-tempo black metal, sophisticated atmospheric guitars, highly emotional screaming and excellent growling, Farsot were creating a thoroughly dismal mood already on their first sign of life, inviting the listener to wallow in deep melancholy and 'Todessehnsucht' (yearning for death). With "042103freitod", Farsot laid the foundation of their career that was furthered with the release of their first album for this label, "IIII".

On "Toteninsel", two of the most distinct names in German black metal join forces to put their own spin on a famous painting: Farsot and ColdWorld.

Ever since their 2007 debut, "IIII", succeeding the "suicidal" demo "042103freitod", Thuringia-based Farsot have dodged the genre's common themes and trappings to develop a unique aesthetic for themselves. Steeped in it, the quintet's current, fourth album, "Fail·Lure" is a showcase in stylistic bravery, without being above honouring their roots. A long-time associate of the group, Georg Börner, is and was the sole driving force behind ColdWorld; an at times ambient-oriented projection of black metal whose icy soundscapes have unfolded in a comprehensive discography.

The origins of "Toteninsel" lie way back, not least because of its subject matter - Swiss Symbolist artist Arnold Böcklin's most famous and equally mysterious painting of the same name ("Isle of the Dead"), the first version of which was created in 1880.

About ten years ago, Farsot recorded a song inspired by the image for a compilation that eventually did not come to be. Thus the composition ended up in the proverbial drawer until recently; in revising their uncovered concept song, Farsot felt keen on writing another one with "Toteninsel" as its theme, and as it turned out the musicians found an entirely new facet of their so-far established sound. The plan to release a single quickly expanded when Georg Börner showed interest in setting the painting to music as well. The result is an exceptional split EP, with both acts offering exclusive material while allowing for elements added to one of their two tracks from the respective other. Farsot's contributions focus on earth as an element, wheres ColdWorld's are dedicated to water.
