On their fourth album, "Confessing Darkness", IMHA TARIKAT are once again pushing hard against all the boundaries that define the genre without ever losing the essential connection to the harsh style. Black metal has always been a much less narrowly defined musical beast than outsiders or jealous gatekeepers have often insinuated. The German black metal innovators have previously made use of all the possibilities that the genre offers while still carving out their own territory. Their dark sonic kingdom is built on two pillars: Musically, a relentless pushing and unstoppable drive forward characterise their sound. "Confessing Darkness" delivers even more of that raw energy than before. The other foundation is a deep emotional intelligence that fully utilises the ability of black metal to express every feeling ranging from purest love to darkest hatred, from severe depression to outbursts of joy. And again, this album takes these personal confessions several steps further as it is all true. This time around, IMHA TARIKAT's lyrical and musical mastermind Kerem Yilmaz aka Ruhsuz Cellât has created the whole album in a studio environment, which benefits the sound. He has also opted mostly for shorter, sharper assaults. The tracks on "Confessing Darkness" come straight to the point and let go when they have spent their devastating power. IMHA TARIKAT have matured as "Confessing Darkness" clearly demonstrates. Yet although some of the youthful sonic violence has waned while experience and hard won musical knowledge are waxing, the German black metal outfit has only gained in conviction and strength. Beyond doubt, "Confessing Darkness" marks a milestone in the rise of IMHA TARIKAT.

Vicious and vitriolic, full of raw anger and burning hatred, yet at the same time bursting with live and lingering on moments of astonishing beauty – IMHA TARIKAT's third album "Hearts Unchained – At War with a Passionless World" announces its inherent contradictions and struggles already in the title. Essentially a black metal album in the crackling dry and humourless German style that renounces all bombast and often folk-ish undertones of its Nordic counterparts, IMHA TARIKAT's lyrical and musical mastermind Kerem Yilmaz aka Ruhsuz Cellât has once again created new layers and expanded the dimensions of his unique compositions. While adding even more throat-torturing approaches to his physically violent singing style, the ferocious drumming and relentless churning of frost-covered guitar strings remain as the either ice cold or glowing hot foundations of IMHA TARIKAT. Then again, while his songs twist and turn through the black void, they sometimes take surprising detours into passionate moments and solos rather derived from heavy metal, hard and occult rock, and even a knife-tip of punk. Lyrically, IMHA TARIKAT continue to function as some kind of an encrypted diary recording Kerem Yilmaz' personal experiences, growth, and fascinations: "I literally let myself go insane to create an absolutely authentic experience", the singer and guitarist reveals about the recording process of "Hearts Unchained", which not surprisingly revolves around inner conflicts, suffering, escalating emotions, but also catharsis and redemption. IMHA TARIKAT and its brutal black sound were created as an emotional pressure valve for its founder, Kerem Yilmaz. His burning musical passion reveals itself in the fast progression, which with his songwriting grows remarkably into all directions with every new release. While even the first EP "Kenoboros" left an excellent impression in 2017, the band audibly conquered new grounds on the following demo "Son Mistisizm" (2018) and via the 2019 debut-full length "Kara Ihlas" and the black metal supernova album "Sternenberster" (2020) to reaching a new climax with "Hearts Unchained – At War with a Passionless World". When IMHA TARIKAT exploded onto the black metal scene in 2017, the Germans created an immediate buzz. Already their debut EP "Kenoboros" (2017) got picked up by Norwegian underground label Terratur Possessions, and the band's debut album "Kara Ihlas" (2019) scored them a slot at Bergen's prestigious Beyond the Gates festival where they played alongside MAYHEM, MARDUK, and ARCTURUS. In the wake of the release of their sophomore full-length "Sternenberster", both of IMHA TARIKAT's early works will be reissued by Prophecy Productions under the title "Kara Ihlas / Kenoboros - Initiation of Passion Bursting".

The sound created by founding member and mastermind Ruhsuz Cellât is defined by particularly dense guitars and a powerful vocal style that takes the singer to his physical limits. Driven by gut instinct and burning passion, IMHA TARIKAT's style is very direct, raw , and fierce – inspired by early Norwegian black metal, dark melodic Swedish influences, vicious outbursts of speed, a dash of punk, and at times even a pinch of occult rock. Lyrically, the extroverted frontman wrestles with inner demons and emotional fallout rather than obscure rituals and theology.
With most of the copies of "Kenoboros" and "Kara Ihlas" long gone, this combined reissue offers the perfect opportunity to add these fiery releases to every black metal collection.
