"Àmor" is a pure rush of passion and irresistibly sexy! The burning pulse of the sun's nuclear fire scorching the desert. The smooth sliding of glistening skin over other skin in a throbbing rhythm. The swelling hum of motion in a mass of bodies. KLIMT 1918 capture many such fleeting moments in time and preserve them through cascading walls of sound and the elegant drone of guitars. The Italian's fifth album, "Àmor", represents a climax of their acclaimed previous work into a most melancholic, sensual, and majestic collection of captivating music. "Àmor" was born out of silence, solitude and social distancing. Yet as a deliberate artistic counterpoint, KLIMT 1918 decided to have all their new songs revolve around carnality, ardour, physical contact between bodies, and the urgent, compelling feelings that keep people awake at night. As a crowning glory, KLIMT 1918 were artistically knighted when the legendary Tony Doogan accepted to mix 'Àmor' and Frank Arkwright (Abbey Road Studios) added his mastering genius. Both renowned engineers have previously joined forces to collaborate with such acts as MOGWAI and SNOW PATROL, and their portfolios also include such greats as JOY DIVISION, COLDPLAY, and OASIS among many others. Although it took plenty of time, diligence, and energy, "Àmor" proves with every second that the album is more than worth this long wait. KLIMT 1918 take their raw emotionality expressed in dynamic, glowing soundscapes rather than fixed structures and calculated hooks to another peak!
However, it is for a reason that Italian indie rock flagship Klimt 1918 names its latest double album after this footnote of pop history, namely a conscious hint at the underlying mood of the songs. "Sentimentale Jugend" captures West Berlin in its pulsating, nihilistic glory during the late 70s - just as David Bowie did with his Berlin Trilogy of the albums "Low", "Heroes" and "Lodger" - and processes notions from Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck's award-winning movie "The Lives Of Others", be it the foggy winter atmosphere in East Berlin during the early 80s or the female protagonist's melancholy.

Eight years after the 'Soundtrack For The Cassette Generation' "Just In Case We'll Never Meet Again", Klimt 1918 stay true to their sound, alternating the energetic with the wistful by means of shoegaze, indie and new wave from the 80s and 90s, yet for the first time, the sonic spectrum gets expanded with the signature guitar effects and drum rhythms of 50s and 60s pop. Ultimately, "Sentimentale Jugend" harks back to such diverse artists as The Chameleons, iLikeTrains, Cocteau Twins, The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Everly Brothers, Sigur Rós or Dead Can Dance and may be suitably tagged "dirty and noisy three beats dream pop".

"Sentimentale Jugend" consists of the separate albums "Sentimentale" (9 songs, 54 minutes) and "Jugend" (10 songs, 53 minutes), the former being the more "serene" chapter with its slow and partially long tracks, whereas the latter with its faster tunes is the more driving counterpart.

Klimt 1918's music contains elements of a great similarity to the Austrian painter Klimt's art: it features mosaic-like soundscapes and is painted in soft hues - and all the constituted parts are joined to an intense canvas.
Their songs are deeply ingrained with originality and boundless musicality even though they might remind you of such diverse artists as the Beatles, Cure, Interpol, Tears For Fears, U2, The Police, Katatonia, or Anathema.
Three years after their successful album "Dopoguerra," Italy's probably most thriving band at the intersection of indie, post rock, and new wave, Klimt 1918, have finished recording their third album. This work with the picturesque title "Just In Case We'll Never Meet Again (Soundtrack For The Cassette Generation)" once more contains epic and excellently produced songs brought to life by an amazing passion and energy, characterised by a mood of bittersweet nostalgia, yearning, and uplifting euphoria. On "Just In Case ...", Klimt 1918 combine the best moments of My Bloody Valentine, The Cure, and U2 with those of modern rock icons such as Dredg, Interpol, Anathema, and Katatonia to create a unique experience of boundless musicality.
