Man has always filled the surrounding nature with meaning. Be it gods, fairies, myths, fears or desires: Our everyday perception of nature is shaped by our culture's projections onto it.
However, with "Momenta Quintae Essentiae" Nhor from the UK chooses a completely different approach. The eight pieces of the album try to capture nature without any judgement or interpretation. The sensitive compositions, presented by piano, acoustic guitar and sporadic, very reserved vocals, continue where Nhor is missing words to describe what a simple walk into the woods before your own door may spark in your inner self: Clarity, inner peace and a deep connection reaching farther back than any cultural endeavours of mankind. The "fifth essence" is what renders this connection possible and "Momenta Quintae Essentiae" gives these moments of connectivity musical form - free of any judgement and simply beautiful.

The new album of the mysterious project from England

Since 2009, the British music project Nhor has created its own unparalleled dreamlike world which is defined by the three dimensions of music, literature, and visual art. Nhor's musical panoply so far has spanned from doleful piano compositions (on "Nhor" from 2009 and "Upon Which Was Written Within The Stars" from 2010) to archaic Black Metal (on "Whisperers To This Archaic Growth" from 2011). Each release was accompanied by a self-written short story and unique artwork specially illustrated for it.

Nhor's latest opus "Within The Darkness Between The Starlight" comprises its Ambient and Black Metal sound spheres in equal measure and, for the artist, epitomises the equilibrium he begins to see between his main inspirations, the stars and forests. This insight is also the subject of the accompanying short story which is once more of equal value to the music and an integral component of the release.

Over the course of last year, British enigma Nhor released four separate "Wildflowers" cassette tapes in very limited quantities, each depicting one of the four seasons. On these recordings, Nhor, like nature itself, does not need raw volume to make himself heard. The pauses are just as important as the single notes and the ethereal piano chords feel like brushstrokes on small vignettes. Prophecy Productions/Lupus Lounge have compiled "Spring", "Summer", "Autumn" and "Winter" together with an additional unreleased track for each season. Thus, "Wildflowers" will bloom into its full glory on gatefold double vinyl with an A2 poster – 100 minutes of music distilled from the 365 days of the year.

"Wildflowers are beautiful things," says Nhor, "blooming for such fleeting spells, once in a year. My music feels more akin to an idea, thought, or a moment lost in dreamy haze than it does to a song. It is as fleeting as wildflowers, a moment that falls away as soon as it is perceived. I wanted to hear how the seasons impacted on my emotions and feelings. It began as a private conversation between myself and the landscapes that surround me. This has bestowed a somnolent nature to the album, and a gentle loneliness that can be found in those moments, as moonlight softly awakens wildflowers. I am very proud to be able to share them with you now.
